This is amazing. I am a CS student, and needed to implement a huffman algorithm as an assignment. There's an explanation in the assignment about the huffman algorithm, but it's really poor. Having watched this video before, I came back to see if it could explain the algorithm, and Tom nails it. The algorithm is explained well in a way that both the layman and the experienced can understand. Tom is an excellent communicator!

Idk, this smacks of the pendulum swinging the other way to me. The creative arts are fraught with anguish & difficulty. Imagine a "nobody" creating whatever it is they create...without any notable fame. Then in their old age, they're struggling & lo & behold, they suddenly get some recognition...but their copyright has run out. Maybe another has really no other skill than their creative endeavors & they earn their living that way, using it to pay back the kindnesses of those who help them survive. Then in old age, when they really need everything they can get, the little they earn from a few small copyrighted materials vanishes. How about someone who's incredibly talented but can't spare the time to do it unless the payoff is worthwhile enough for them...like an investment for their later years. Shall we miss out on their works? This plan is locking up creativity in a different manner. Want to see the death of the phrase "Follow your dreams"? Want to lose creatives before they begin? Let people earn from what they invested in creativity for their lifetime. That short enough time to be able to take someone else's creativity for free? How about a looser copyright version for after death? That so difficult? If you look up images, there's different categories of usage rights: free to share & use, free to share & use commercially, free to modify, share & use, free to modify, share & use commercially, & public domain. This need not be an all or nothing situation.

AI is stupid. I tried using it for programming a basic version of a written-to-speech program via C# using some different APIs with some POST and GET stuff and it did give me some code but it was all wrong. I Had to find out via try and error what works and what not.

I think this may fail to see that the point of Newspeak was also to prevent communication of these ideas, and since few people will develop them independently, it prevents the populous from sharing the ideas and being able to revolt.
